Friday's Solstice, Celebrate and Harness its Power

Friday's Solstice, Celebrate and Harness its Power

This week, Friday 21st June is a profoundly significant day, it is the Winter Solstice here in New Zealand and the Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere.

In this message, we invite you to discover more about this magical time and how you can celebrate and harness the power of this upcoming solstice to transform and enhance your own life...

The Solstice has the power to inspire and uplift us -
it invites us to honour the return of the light
and to celebrate all of life

Ancient Traditions and New Beginnings

For thousands of years, cultures around the world have recognized the solstices as powerful times of transition, transformation and renewal.

In ancient Egypt the summer solstice welcomed Sirius, the brightest star, and at the winter solstice, victory of light over darkness was celebrated.

In Ancient Greece it signified the first day of a new year.

Folklore tells us that on this day people recognised the healing and magical properties of plants, and that new endeavours were blessed.

As many of you know, all First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® are made in total co-operation with nature and were created to support holistic healing and personal growth - to uplift and to spread light across the planet. It is indeed a day for celebration!

A Celestial Event, What is the Solstice?

The word "solstice" comes from the Latin word "solstitium," which is derived from "sol" (meaning "sun") and "stitium" (meaning "to stand still"). It is the time at which the sun appears to stand still at its highest or lowest point in the year.

The winter solstice marks the longest night, whilst the summer solstice brings the longest day of the year.

At this time of the year, we are supported to pause and reflect,
and to sow the seeds of our deepest wishes and intentions

Five ways you can harness the power of this solstice to transform your life

1. Inner reflection and illumination - Allow for 'Aha' Moments

The days leading up to the solstice support deep introspection and illumination. You are supported to tap into your own inner wisdom. Reflect on the past few months, what have you learned, what do you still need to resolve? Allow for ‘aha’ moments, clarity and new insights to old problems. Journal or draw to express yourself

2. Make way for new experiences and opportunities

In nature there is a natural cycle of life, death and rebirth
To create space for new opportunities, we must let go of what no longer serves us.
Take a quiet moment to consider what it is time for you to release and take action.

3. Make a wish, sow the seeds of light and new intentions

This is the start of a new cycle, of rebirth and renewal. It is a perfect time to pursue new goals and dreams. Take a deep breath, connect with your heart, tap into your deepest wishes, genuine needs and heartfelt intentions. Embrace a fresh start.

4. The solstice in the zodiacal sign of Cancer – nurture, heal and grow.

On Friday, the sun moves into the astrological sign of Cancer, the zodiacal sign that embodies the feminine energy of psychic intuition, motherly love, nurturing, kindness and protection.

You are supported to heal and grow. If there’s something inside of yourself, or a relationship that you need to heal, or if you’ve been considering enrolling into a new course of study or personal development journey – now is the time.

5. Connect with nature and community

Let’s celebrate this solstice together, lets honour the magnificent cycles of nature, our connection to the natural world and to our human family.
