First Light® Flowers of Transformation

When you walk down a road or along a forest track in New Zealand, what’s the first thing that catches your eye?
The flowers.
Flowers are the most expressive part of a plant. Flowers invite connection. They draw us closer, spark curiosity, and often stir something quietly joyful inside us.
Across cultures and throughout history, flowers have symbolised joy, renewal, hope and the celebration of life.
What are Flower Essences?
Flower essences are vibrational plant medicine. They are made with flowers, water and sunlight and have been used for thousands of years for holistic wellbeing. Indigenous people drank the dew from flower petals for holistic healing. In the 1930’s Dr Edward Bach re-popularised them when he created a range of flower essences from native English plants. In 1999 Franchelle Ofsoské-Wyber founded First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® and created a range of native New Zealand flower essences to support us to meet the challenges of the 21st Century – they are flower essences for emotional wellbeing.
Understanding the Root Cause of Disharmony
Dr Edward Bach, in his book, ‘Heal Thyself’ wrote:
“In true healing the nature and the name of the physical disease is of no consequence whatever.
Disease of the body itself is nothing but the result of the disharmony between soul and mind. It is only a symptom of the cause, and as the same cause will manifest itself differently in nearly every individual, seek to remove this cause, and the after results, whatever they may be, will disappear automatically.”
Many people today experience a sense of emotional disharmony and inner conflict.
From an energetic perspective, this often stems from a gap between:
- The soul — our inner selves
- The personality — our outer selves- everyday thoughts, emotions and conditioned behaviours.
This gap widens when negative attitudes, emotions and thoughts take hold.
Founder and creator of First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand®, Franchelle Ofsoské-Wyber discovered that working with the Flower of Transformation Set , First Light® flower essences No’s 1-36 can help us to bridge this gap.

How to Choose a Flower Essence
There are a number of simple and effective ways to help you choose the right flower essence. There is a popular article on our blog about how to select flower essences.
Below we will share a couple of quick examples:
1) Using First Light® Flower Cards, at the beginning of each day, select one card from First Light® Flower Cards deck No’s 1 – 36 to find which flower essence to work with on that day. You can get the children involved and have them select their own card each morning. If you wish, you can read the full description of the flower essence you have selected in The Sacred Plant Medicine of Aotearoa Volume One or on our website. Or you can just take it and observe your changes throughout the day.
2) Select a flower essence based on its keywords. For example, you might have a big project on at work that feels daunting and you doubt your ability to cope. You can choose to work with First Light® flower essence No 29 Mairehau – keyword ‘achievement’ – to support you to overcome temporary feelings of inadequacy by transforming it into a sense of achievement, knowing success is within reach.
3 Easy Ways to Take Flower Essences
- Place 2-4 drops of the chosen First Light® flower essence under the tongue or in a glass of water.
- Add 2-4 drops to your morning smoothie or cuppa.
- Add 4 drops to your drink bottle to sip through the day.
